And the Valiant and Sunlust patch replaces the brutal doom explosivebarrel actor with a vanilla barrel actor so that Valiant (map07) and Sunlust (map30) are playable and wont drag the FPS down to 1FPS or crash the game. Eviternity patch includes a decorate file to make Eviternity's monsters behave correctly with v21.11.0 as well. The Epic 2 patch also includes a decorate file for the alien actor(was moved out of v21.11.0) which will fire plasmaballs now. X actor definition has been moved out of brutalv21.11.0) so that they spawn brutal doom projectiles. Inside the patches for Scythe 2 and Resurgence includes a decorate file that modifies the Afrit and Mr. Added Doom 2 Reloaded, Eviternity, Herian 2, and Valiant patches.

Game looks more like Quake or a Raven Software game than Doom. And yet in the demo, the super shotgun is just another double barrel shotgun terrible accuracy, but kills in one shot if your aim is centered from 5 feet away. You kill 5 of them with one super shotgun blast. You kill them by the dozens just by waving a plasma gun around. If you want to add Brutal Doom as a PWAD simply look for the files: BD21RC7.pk3 DoomMetalVol4. That said, Brutal Doom is designed for GZDoom so I'm not sure how much of an advantage that really is. Why do you need crowd control or smart movement when there are only 4 imps onscreen at most? You shouldn't have time to stop, rip a zombie's leg off, and hit it in the face with it. The advantage of Brutal Doom as a PWAD is that you can switch which source port you use Brutal Doom with more easily. So far it looks like they're just rebooting Doom 3. It doesn't feel like a game at all inspired by Doom or Doom 2. It's not slow, it has enemies, what are you complaining about? That it's just not the same thing.

And so disregarding that it isn't as fast as the old games, what about the encounters? You strafe around and shoot some imps.

Yeah dont get me wrong I would love to see any wad/pk working but mods such as Brutal Doom would also take a hit in performance, which would need to be considered. People see Doom 4 and say golly gee, what are those Doom fans complaining about? The game isn't slow! Okay, it's not slow. Maybe only the ones that work on vanilla Doom, like neo6000 said, but that would already mean THOUSANDS of new maps and content for Doom. Or lure the close range enemies around a corner so you aren't getting instantly blown up by Revenants and Mancubi. Stay out of the range of the shotgun guys and pick them off with your own shotgun, then spam some chaingun, rockets, or plasma gun against some of the mid-strength enemies like the pinkies and cacodemons. And the enemy composition is done in a very particular manner. Sometimes it feels like a weird 3D version of Contra (even if Doom is technically 2D), with how much emphasis there is on dodging. It's not just 'run fast, there are enemies.' The areas are laid out so even if there are tons of enemies, you can strafe all over the place to avoid everything. That's important and a lot of people miss, but the article could have also gone a bit more into how enemy placement and composition make Doom.
